They’ve Called Simpson Meadows Home Since 2017 Finding connection—and family If you wanted to find long-lost relatives, you could spend countless hours on genealogy websites or send a DNA sample off for testing. Or you could strike up a casual conversation while signing up for a class at Simpson Meadows. That’s how Alice Casner and Alice Smurthwaite learned they were distant cousins.
Meet Donald “Buster” Needham
He’s Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2018 Mushrooms and much more West Grove native Donald “Buster” Needham had just left for the Army in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “I didn’t get as much time with him as I wished,” Buster says of his father, who worked dairy cattle in the summer and grew mushrooms in the winter. When Buster finished his time with the Army, he returned to Chester County and in 1958 went into the mushroom business with his mother for a while.

She’s Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2020 Foundation and faith In March 2020, just as the world was closing down in the face of a global pandemic, Melissa Clark and her husband, Don, moved to Jenner’s Pond. At that time, a new friend told Melissa that living at Jenner’s Pond “is like going on a cruise without water.”

Chances are that if you’ve owned a home in one of those counties where Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania meet, Urie and Nancy Boulden’s family business has helped keep you comfortable.

She’s Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2019 A love of wagging tails and watercolors Anna Bellenger has many happy memories: her wedding day, her daughter’s wedding day, the births of her children—and winning “Best of Breed” at the 1997 Westminster Kennel Club Show at Madison Square Garden, with her Norwich Terrier, Ch. Chestnut Hills Royal Blue, or just “Blue” for short. Anna, owned the dog and handled him in the show ring, and Blue beat out 20 other dog/handler teams that day.

She’s Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2019 Embracing the revolution Marjorie Frampton can trace her ancestry back to a patriot who fought for independence from Great Britain—a fact that earned her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). While attending the organization’s national convention, she connected with people who would draw her into another revolution—this one, technological.

He’s Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2017 What’s in a name? If Mike Iacocca’s name sounds familiar, perhaps it’s because you know the hot dog shop his grandfather started in 1922. Or you may have heard of one of his cousins, the father of the Ford Mustang and CEO of Chrysler. If you live at Jenner’s Pond, you’re likely to know Mike Iacocca as one of the guys in the woodshop who likes to fix things for people. Or the guy who volunteers with Project CURE.

They’ve Called Jenner’s Pond Home Since 2017 Focused on family—and fun Some parents pack their kids off to the Poconos for summer camp. Len and Bobi Freedman’s son and daughter sent their kids to “Camp Freedman” for two weeks each summer, where Len and Bobi provided their four grandchildren—two boys and two girls—with the same kinds of experiences they gave their children.

She’s Called Simpson House Home Since 2018 Raising funds & rubbing elbows Betty Marmon first came to Simpson House as a child, singing and playing hand bells with her church group. In 2018, she came back and stayed. In between, she says, “I was very fortunate to have amazing experiences” here and abroad.

They’ve Called Simpson House Home Since 2019 Familiarity breeds contentment Bob Walk worked as the chaplain at Simpson House for 20 years. Now he and his wife, Kathy, are happy to call it “home.” “Being part of a very caring community of staff and residents, Kathy and I decided to move here in 2019, buoyed by a retirement community that offers three levels of care and is close to Center City, on the edge of Fairmount Park and just down from the Mann Center,” Bob says.

She's Called Simpson House Home Since 2018 The school of life Josephine DiRenzo believes in starting her day with a prayer. “The Lord is there to listen,” says Josephine, who has called Simpson House “home” since 2018. A Philadelphia native, Josephine worked in elementary education. “I was fortunate to meet many people whom I dealt with in forming evaluation teams for school accreditation,” she says. “My registry of professional volunteers consisted of superintendents, principals, teachers, and other school personnel.” The accreditation process assures that schools meet certain standards, which vary by state.
